Mapping: The Beatles
This map shows the world-wide success of The Beatles. Each individual record on the map represents a number one hit, and the different coloured records represent different countries e.g. 22 light blue records means The Beatles had 22 different number one records in Sweden.

The opacity of the records on the map is determined by the length of time (in weeks) The Beatles were at number one for in that country. Meaning, the stronger the opacity, the longer The Beatles spent at number one. It’s the same rule for records of a weakened opacity. The weaker it is, the less time The Beatles spent at number one in that country.

All of this information is stored in a key provided on the poster.
