For ISTD MP3 I chose to design 2 posters for
Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’ with a twist...

The first poster is a piece of imagery associated
with the song title and lyrics, formed by the lyrics
themselves.

The second poster is of a backmasked
(song played backwards) interpretation of the song.
When Stairway to Heaven is played backwords the
lyrics refer to Satan, the afterlife, and hell. Like the
first poster this one is also an image made up from
the lyrics that reveal it.

The strong contrast between the song’s meaning
played forwards and what it means played
backwards is really interesting to me and that is
the focus behind these designs.

In my designs I have translated the lyrics/meaning
as clearly and as straight forward as possible.
